Terriers surrender 3 third period goals in 5-3 Game 2 loss to Estevan (SJHL)

The Estevan Bruins used a big 3 goal third period en route to a 5-3 Game 2 victory over the Yorkton Terriers on Saturday night at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

The Bruins wouldn't take long to score first as just 48 seconds in, Jake Fletcher would snap home his 1st of playoffs to give them an early 1-0 lead. The Terriers would even it up 1:46 later as LJ Naccarato would bang home his 1st of the postseason to make it 1-1. Then for the first time in the series the Terriers would grab the lead as Cody Dubas would send a long point shot towards the Bruins' net and it would beat Nathan Alalouf on the far side for his 1st SJHL playoff goal to make it 2-1 Terriers. It would stay like that until 28 seconds left in the opening frame, Matt McNeil with a beauty of a wrist shot would sneak it over the short-side shoulder of Nathan Hargrave to knot it at 2-2 after 20 minutes. Shots 18-10 Yorkton.

Jared Legien would regain the Terriers their lead on the power play as he would snipe home his 2nd of the playoffs to make it a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes.

The Bruins would even it up 6:06 into the 3rd period as Jason Miller (pictured above) on a nice low shot from Johnny Witzke would deflect home his 1st, which made the game 3-3. Michael McCheseny would get the eventual game winner for Estevan with just 1:54 to go as Jayden Davis would find time back-door to give the Bruins the lead back at 4-3. Miller would ice it for the visitors with 49 seconds to go to give them the Game 2 win.

Nathan Alalouf got his 2nd straight win in the Bruins net making 34 saves on 37 shots while Nathan Hargave once again took the loss, turned aside 37 Bruin shots.

The two teams will shift back to Estevan for Game number 3 on Tuesday night at Affinity Place. Pregame show will be at 7:20, pxp at 7:30 with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey on GX94.
