Terriers pushed to the brink after 5-4 Game 4 loss on Tuesday in Estevan

The Yorkton Terriers have been pushed to the brink of elimination after 5-4 loss on the road last night (Tues) in Game 3 to the Estevan Bruin at Affinity Place

For the first time in the series the Terriers would strike first just 3 minutes into the 1st as Jordan Hudson’s long wrist shot would be deflected in by Cody Illerbrun for his 1st SJHL playoff goal to make it 1-0 Terriers. Evan Scott would even it up with 2:40 to go as he would walk out from the far side corner and wrap it around Nathan Hargave for his 1st of the series which made it 1-1. Then just 1:33 later, Jake Heerspink would re-direct home a Jake Fletcher shot for his 1st to give the home team a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes with the Bruins leading shot column as well at 15-8 after 1 period.

The Terriers would even it up early in the 2nd with a power play goal as Dakota Odgers would find Shane Sherban backdoor and Lanigan product would bang in his 1st to make it 2-2 just 2:52 into the middle frame.  Then the tail end of a penalty kill, Corwin Stevely would stepped across the Bruins’ blue-line and he would send a rocket that would would beat Nathan Alalouf over his right shoulder, for the Terriers’ captain’s first of the playoffs that made it 3-2 midway through the 2nd. But the Bruins would come back with two late goals to grab their 1 goal lead back with goals from Lynden Pastachak & Jason Miller (powerplay) to give Estevan a 4-3 lead after 2 periods. Shots 33-21 Bruins (18-13 EST in 2nd).

Michael McChesney (pictured above) would get the 5th Bruins’ goal which would end up to be the game winner as he would slip it five-hole on the Terriers net minder Nathan Hargrave for his 2nd of the playoffs to make it 5-3. The Terriers would cut it within 1 with 34 seconds to go as Dakota Odgers would snipe home his 1st of the series to make it 5-4 but that’s as close as the Terriers would get dropping a 1 goal decision in Game 4.

20 year old Nathan Alalouf made 31 saves for his 3rd straight win in the Bruins net while Terriers goalie Nathan Hargrave was once again busy turning aside 37 of 42 Bruins’ shots.

The Terriers will look to stay alive tonight (Wed) as they host Game 4 against the Bruins at the FAA. Pregame show at 7:20, pxp at 7:30 with Yorkton dodge Junior Hockey on GX94.
