Stamps lose for 8th time this season, 5-1 to the Winnipeg Blues

The Swan Valley Stampeders had their record drop to 2-8-0 on the season after a 5-1 loss at the MTS Iceplex to the hometown Winnipeg Blues.

After a scoreless 1st period, the Blues would get on the board first in the middle frame as Connor Timlick's long wristshot from the side boards would get past Brett Evans for his 1st MJHL goal to make it an early 1-0 lead. They would add to their lead just over 6 minutes later as Dexter Kuczek would snipe home his 7th of the year to give the home team a 2 goal lead. But the Stamps power play would finally click on their 4th opportunity as Connor Navrot would finish off a nice passing play from Trevar Mann for his 4th of the season to cut the Stamps' deficit to just 2-1 after 40 minutes.

But the Blues would steal the momentum back with an early goal in the opening minutes of the 3rd as Levi Cudmore would beat Brett Evans short-side for his team tying 7th of the campaign to make it 3-1. The Blues would add 2 more late third period goals off the sticks of Dale Goodbranson and power play goal from Kristjon Finnson to help the Winnipeg club get their 5th win of the season a 4 goal victory over the Stampeders.

Adam Derochie earned his 3rd win of the season making 27 saves on 28 shots while Grandview's Brett Evans turned aside 31 shots as his record dropped to 2-5.

The Stamps will wrap up this 2 game stretch on Friday night as they visit the Selkirk Steelers. Pregame 7:20, pxp at 7:30PM MB time with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey on GX94.
